Security Update Required
This site uses a specialized, high security "Digital SSL certificate." In order for your browser to recognize this certificate, you must install the corresponding root certificate into your browser's certificate cache.

About Secure Socket Layers (SSL)
SAS uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure online transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet. You can identify those web sites that use SSL software by looking for the "lock" icon on your Internet Browser's status bar.

Encryption technology ensures that data sent over the Internet cannot be intercepted or read by anyone other than the authorized recipient. Encryption protects the data using advanced mathematical algorithms to "scramble" the data.

128-bit Encryption
Because of our security system, you will need to use a browser that supports 128 bit SSL encryption. We recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or newer, or Mozilla FireFox version 2.0 or newer.

As the Internet has evolved, so have Internet security standards. Encryption levels have progressed from 40-bit to 56-bit and now to 128-bit. The mathematical algorithm used today makes 128-bit encrypted data packets 309,485,009,821,345,068,724,781,056 times harder to decrypt than 40-bit data packets.

If your browser does not already support support 128-bit encryption (cipher strength) you will not be able to log in or use our specialized server certificate.

Internet Cookies
Many Internet web sites, including SAS , use Internet Browser "cookies." Internet Browser cookies are small text files placed on your hard drive and accessible only to the site that placed it on your hard drive. Cookies used by SAS contain no personal information about you. It is simply a secured unique identifier used while you are browsing our site. It cannot be used by anyone else. This secured identifier allows you to enter different web forms without the need to authenticate (log in) to each individual page.

If cookie security settings are not applied properly, your browser may not permit you to log into the SAS web site. A symptom of this is a "looping" effect where you are continually redirected to the login page.

See the computer setup instructions for browser cookie settings specific to your operating system.

Reporting Problems
We encourage all SAS users to report problems encountered using the system to the SAS support team. You can do this by sending an email to with the following information:

  • Your SAS login ID
  • The specific form or page you were viewing when the problem occured
  • The type of computer you are using (ie. Dell, HP, etc.)
  • The operating system you are using (ie. Windows XP, Vista, Mac OS X 10.2, etc.)
  • The type and version number of your browser (ie, Internet Explorer 6.0, Firefox 2, etc.)
  • The exact text of any error messages you received
  • A brief description of the problems you encountered
